General Principles
There will be a time when someone from friends to intimate enemies have truly wronged you but there is little likelihood that anything you can do will have an impact on what was done to change the future. This is most often a situation in which you decide that actions done are not going to help.
Certainly, not with someone in a car ahead who cut you off, and probably not with a family member who did something that truly hurt you. The event is in the past. Yet you still relive it in your thoughts, still feel hurt, the heartache.
Reliving it in your thoughts brings up feelings of resentment, rage, heartache, leaving you feeling like you need to lash out even when your rational mind let's you know that nothing will undo the event or change the consequences.
